Well last night was certainly a fun night for all, especially our little Chelsea. For the most part we all laid around the various pools and the sea side chillin, catching some rays and enjoying one of the numerous frosty ``specials``
I`m not sure why they call them specials as there are so many of them. I`m sure we are all gonna have to pay extra for carry on as we will no doubt gain and extra 20lbs after this trip. It`s like how they line up all those games of chance on the midway, your funnelled through them..that`s how the restaurants are here at Sandals - They are everywhere! There is no way you could come home after this trip and say you never had enough food or drink...impossible!
So far we really have only had the great buffet in the main mansion part and sampled various delicacies from several smaller informal cafe`s. There are no big pots of gruel laying around they slop on your plate when you order something, it`s all made fresh and just as you order it. We do want to get all dolled up and hit several of the fancy pants restaurants on site before the week is out.
The place is also incredibly friendly, everywhere you go...everyone you meet. It`s weird actually, having such great service consistently. Considering there are nearly 800 staff at this resort, that`s pretty amazing!
So last night - I`ve been wondering ow and what I can write about this. We went to a real fancy welcome for all the radio people and our guests. It was at a new amphitheatre they built as part of the 60 million dollar renovations. Everything was gourmet, and all of us being down home folk, it was strange to feel so rich! Trouble with these kinds of buffets, you tend to throw a little of everything on your plate.
Garth was talking smack about trying lobster for the first time and actually did! Well OK, ONE bite. He didn`t much care for it, but it was quickly snapped up by is wife Joan...her good fortune! There was a quick formal part of the owners of Sandals welcoming us all and inviting us to have a great time and thanks for coming down. I reminded them what a big sacrifice this was for us and how they better appreciate this!!
After the meal, we all loosened the top string of our mankinis and bikini`s`and enjoyed a `special`on a deck overlooking the ocean. We have all said this repeatedly - ìsn`t it great to sit outside when it`s 25* at night, stars shining overhead, NO wind and NO mosquito`s or black flies! I never get tired of that.
Then everyone proceeded to the new amphitheatre to watch a version of the old dating game. When they asked for couple to come up, guess who were the first to raise their hands. Go ahead guess......Yup Chelsea and the Sheriff. Right after than though, Christine started yelling to pick her, so she and hubby Loran were up on the stage too!
There were a couple of newlyweds who were obviously close friends, from Chattanooga, another couple from Virginia who were so funny...he was sooooo whipped it wasn`t even funny. She kept throwing her shoe at him. Then another pair of gals from somewhere on the east coast and of course our two lovely couples.
They kept asking them questions and having the other spouse guess what they said. I have video but no video editing software and just take my word for it, I would have to delete a lot of footage! Kinda like the US Government censoring anything to do about area 51, that does`nt exist!
One question was asking the guys `` if you could hypnotize your spouse to do ANYTHING you want for one whole day, what would that be` Now I know your mind is already deep in the gutter, and it was for all but two couples...can you guess...that's right, Chelsea and Christine. So when asked, the Sheriff says he would have Chelsea do ironing! yes, take the clothes out of the dryer and iron them! Meanwhile Loran said he would have Christine come and work with him at his sawmill! What is wrong with these guys! I cant and wont be able to repeat what the others said.
The video of Chelsea and Christine's answers and reactions when they found out what Sheriff and Loran said were priceless (and shall remain on my hard drive to hold over both their heads!)
Without a doubt, those two were the life of the party and made that show fantastic! Getting up at 5:00am the next day was NOT fun for our gals thought! Play the game, pay the price ladies!
The first days broadcast was great! We were in a giant tent set up on the beach and broadcast from there, A living hell for sure. Being radio professionals we somehow pushed our way through the agony. Once that was done, off to the big house for a deluxe breakfast, change then off to poolside. Its sunny today and with a high of 30*, its like someone is holding a hairdryer on you! Wow that sun is intense this close to the equator.
Later this afternoon, we are all hopping on a giant catamaran and heading off for a sunset cruise and dance. Should be fun if the seas are calm and not angry like an old man trying to send back soup to the kitchen. I honestly would have pictures up here but they are all incriminating and we all have friends and family reading this who still think we are sweet and innocent.
Hopefully some good pictures will come from this afternoon and I will update this, so come back again, y'all hear!
Garth
